Cisco Systems approved the repurchase of up to $7
billion of its common stock, the networking company announced following a regularly scheduled board meeting. The company has spent $7.8 billion buying back its stock since September 2001. Shares rose 1.3 percent to $21.49 on Island after the announcement.
