    [​IMG]Group NanoXplore, a Montreal-based company specializing in the production and application of graphene and its derivative materials, announced that it will merge with Graniz Modal, a public company that trades in the Canadian stock exchange (TSX: GRA.H). Effectively, NanoXplore will become a public company.

    As part of the transaction, NanoXplore will also make a brokered private placement and will raise between $2 million and $5 million CAD.


    As part of the disclosure, NanoXplore also gave a financial statement. In the last 9 months, NanoXplore's revenues reached $2.55 million CAD. The company's loss amounted to $1.6 million CAD. NanoXplore also launched a new web site in preparation of the upcoming merger.

    Northern Graphite Improves Yield of Large Flake Graphite

    Ottawa, Ontario – August 15, 2017: Northern Graphite Corporation (TSXV:NGC, OTCQX:NGPHF) (“Northern” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce the results of additional metallurgical test work carried out on ore from the Bissett Creek deposit by BGRIMM, a Chinese state owned metallurgical research and development company. BGRIMM confirmed the high recoveries and high purities used in the Feasibility Study (“FS”) and successfully increased the percentage of high value, +50 mesh XL flake in the final concentrate from 48 to 61 per cent.

    Gregory Bowes, CEO commented that: “We believe Bissett Creek has the best flake size distribution of any new graphite project which will result in concentrate prices that are more than 60 per cent higher than for the “average” project, and we will not have the fines problem that characterizes almost every graphite deposit.” He added that “XL flake markets are growing rapidly while Chinese production of XL flake is declining which creates an excellent opportunity for the Bissett Creek Project.”

    China produces 70 to 80 per cent of the world’s graphite and has substantial expertise in graphite mining and processing. BGRIMM was engaged to complete a full suite of metallurgical testing to confirm the assumptions and estimates used in the FS and to determine if they could be improved and costs reduced. Testing included chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction, thin section analysis, process mineralogy, progressive grinding tests, reagent regime tests for rougher flotation, flotation times, first and second stage regrinding tests for cleaner flotation, open-circuit tests, locked-cycle testing and recycled water tests. BGRIMM achieved a purity level over 95 per cent and a carbon recovery over 96 per cent in locked cycle tests which are consistent with the FS. Most importantly, the concentrate was 25 per cent +32 mesh XXL flake and 36 per cent +50 mesh XL flake for a combined total of 61 per cent (compared to 48 per cent in the FS). An additional 17 per cent was +80 mesh large flake and only 14 per cent was less than 100 mesh, small flake.

    Work carried out by BGRIMM and the Company’s Brazilian metallurgical consultant have also identified a number of opportunities to potentially reduce capital and operating costs. These modifications are currently being evaluated at SGS Lakefield.

    Leading Edge Materials Begins Follow Up Drill Program at the Bergby Lithium Project, Sweden

    Vancouver, Canada – Leading Edge Materials Corp. (“Leading Edge Materials”) or (the “Company”) (TSXV:LEM) (OTCQB: LEMIF) is pleased to announce the commencement of a second drill program at the Bergby lithium project in Sweden. Granted permits allow for up to 48 new drill sites that will allow the implementation of a phased program focused on expanding the area of lithium mineralization, and collecting samples for metallurgical testwork. It is anticipated that this drill program will be approximately 900m of targeted drilling.

    Leading Edge Materials received positive results from the drilling at Bergby completed during the first half of 2017. Li2O (lithium oxide) mineralized pegmatite was intersected in 17 of the 18 holes drilled, consistently at very shallow depths.

    This second drill program at Bergby will test along strike and down dip from previously drilled mineralization. Lithium mineralized outcrops and boulders are known from a strike length of more than 1.5km, more than twice the strike tested by any previous drilling. The lithium mineralized pegmatite dips at shallow depth, and multiple down dip holes are planned for each drill section.

    Blair Way, President and CEO, stated “Bergby has rapidly shaped up as a highly ranked lithium project in the Nordic region. Following our previous drill success, we have moved quickly to access the permits and the drill rig needed to advance this exciting prospect. The lithium mineralized pegmatite remains open in all directions, and the along strike and down dip potential will be well tested by this program.”

    Bergby lies in central Sweden, 25km north of the town of Gavle, secured by three exploration licenses that cover a total of 1,903 Ha. The site is close to infrastructure, with major roads, rail and power supply passing immediately adjacent to the claim boundaries. The potential for low cost and rapid development is significantly enhanced by the presence of a deep-water port only 5km from the site.

    Europe is playing a leading role in the transition to low-carbon energy generation from renewable sources, and the efficient storage of that energy. Electric mobility (EV’s, HEV, PHEV’s) and stationary electricity storage are dependent on high purity graphite, lithium and cobalt, where Leading Edge Materials is an active European player. Lithium has a strong and expanding market, due to the essential role it plays in lithium-based batteries for the automotive, consumer product and stationary electrify storage industries. The high electrochemical potential of lithium results in the high power to weight ratio that is essential for efficient mobile batteries.

    NextSource Materials Inc. (TSX:NEXT) (OTCQB:NSRC) (“NextSource” or “the Company”), announces that it has successfully registered SuperFlake® as a trademark in Europe.

    The registration of the SuperFlake® trademark means that NextSource now has the exclusive right to use this trademark on all natural graphite sold in the European Union that it produces from its feasibility-stage Molo Graphite Project in Madagascar.

    In conjunction with its application for trademark registration in Europe, the Company also applied for and is awaiting status on being awarded the exclusive right to use SuperFlake® in Canada, the United States, South Korea and Japan. These key jurisdictions represent the top demand markets for flake graphite and the locations where NextSource intends to sell its natural flake graphite concentrate.

    As detailed in the June 2017 updated Feasibility Study, the SuperFlake® graphite concentrate can achieve 98% carbon (C) purity with simple flotation, has excellent thermal expansion, can be easily upgraded to 99.97% purity (battery grade) and contains no deleterious substances. The SuperFlake® graphite concentrate also has excellent flake size distribution that is well above the global average, with 46.4 percent being classified as +80 (large), +65 (extra large) and +48 (jumbo) mesh in flake size. Specifically 23.6 percent of SuperFlake® graphite concentrate is +48 mesh and greater in size.

    The timing of this trademark registration in Europe coincides well with the Company’s accelerated timeline for targeted Phase 1 production of SuperFlake® graphite in 2018.

    Phase 1 will consist of a fully operational and sustainable graphite mine with a permanent processing plant capable of producing approximately 17,000 tonnes per annum (“tpa”) of highquality SuperFlake® graphite concentrate per year over a mine life of 30 years.

    The results of the Company’s updated Feasibility Study were previously announced on June 1, 2017 and highlighted the following:

    • Phase 1 will utilize a unique, fully-modular build platform, resulting in a build cost of only US$18.4 million and a build time of just 9 months

    • The Molo Project will have the lowest capital mine cost of any new and competing graphite project and one of the lowest operating costs in the industry to ship SuperFlake® graphite concentrate to European ports on a full-cost, CIF basis

    • Using current-day flake graphite prices and realistic production volumes, Phase 1 of the Molo mine realizes a pre-tax internal rate of return (IRR) of 25.2% and a post-tax IRR of 21.6%.

    • Eventual Phase 2 expansion to approximately 50,000 tpa of SuperFlake® graphite concentrate will also incorporate the Company’s unique modular build approach and can be efficiently implemented as market demand requires.

    Northern Graphite Provides Update on Graphite Prices

    September 5, 2017 – Northern Graphite Corporation (“Northern” or the “Company”) (NGC:TSX-V, NGPHF:OTCQX) reports that the price of large flake (+80 mesh) graphite has increased by approximately 30 per cent over the last couple months and is again selling for over US$1,000/tonne, FOB China. European and North American prices are generally US$50-100/tonne higher. XL flake (+50 mesh) prices have also risen significantly while smaller flake sizes have experienced more moderate price increases. It has been reported by Industrial Mineral Magazine that the supply of large and XL flake graphite is tight and some speculative investment is taking place.

    Gregory Bowes, Chief Executive Officer, commented that; “While it is still early, this is hopefully the start of the same upward price trend experienced by the other lithium ion battery (“LiB”) minerals, lithium and cobalt. Northern is very well positioned to benefit with an advanced stage XL flake deposit and a proprietary purification technology that offers an alternative to the Chinese process which is creating environmental issues.“

    Industrial Minerals Magazine, Benchmark Mineral Intelligence and Roskill Information Services have all commented on the situation and should be referred to for additional information. Reasons cited by these and other sources for rising graphite prices include:
    1. Production and supply problems in China due to stricter enforcement of environmental and safety standards and restrictions on the use of dynamite in some areas. High purity and large flake sizes have been particularly affected. Also, production costs have continued to increase due to environmental regulations, higher taxes and land fees, labour and power cost inflation and shortages of ore supply. China is introducing a new environmental tax in January, 2018 which is expected to have a significant effect on the graphite industry and has announced its intention to build a graphite stockpile equal to 80 per cent of annual production by 2020.
    2. The steel industry is recovering. Global output was up 4.5 per cent in the first half of 2017 and a number of companies have reported improved financial results. Refractories remain the largest market for flake graphite and mainly require large flake sizes.
    3. Continued strong growth in lithium ion battery demand. Small flake graphite is used to make LiB anode material because it has been plentiful and low cost. If LiB demand growth meets expectations, anode material suppliers will likely have to start using larger flake sizes and to compete with traditional markets for supply creating further pressure on prices. Raw material prices for synthetic graphite LiB anode material are also reported to be “surging.”
    4. XL flake production is declining as resources in Shandong Province, a major source, are being depleted and it has also been heavily affected by environmental closures. Heilongjiang Province, the largest producing region, has mainly smaller flake. The expandable graphite market, which is largely based on XL flake, is one of the fastest growing along with LiBs and this is putting additional pressure on prices. Expandable graphite is used for thermal management in consumer electronics, as a gasket material in the automotive, petroleum, chemical and nuclear industries, to make conductive plates for fuel cells and flow batteries, and as a fire retardant.

    MASON GRAPHITE PROVIDES UPDATE ON PERMITTING PROCESS

    Mason Graphite Inc. ("Mason Graphite" or the "Company") (TSX.V: LLG; OTCQX: MGPHF) announces that it has been informed by the Ministry of Développement durable, Environnement et Lutte contre les changements climatiques (MDDELCC) that a public hearing mandate has been given to the Bureau des audiences publiques en environnement (BAPE) for the Lac Guéret graphite project. The hearing process, with a maximum duration of 4 months, will start on September 25th. To the Company’s knowledge, no mining project in Quebec was ever able to avoid this phase. This is the last step in the permitting process before the recommendation by the Minister of MDDELCC to the provincial government cabinet on the decree.


    The Company will keep on being actively involved with all stakeholders and local communities. Furthermore, considering the warm reception by the population and the full support of the Pessamit First Nation, as evidenced by the recently announced Impact Benefit Agreement, the Company believes that the project should not face any other hurdle in the remaining permitting steps.

    Notwithstanding this hearing process, the Company had already launched and continues several actions usually undertaken only after obtaining the final authorizations, such as the procurement of major equipment and hiring of key personnel. The detailed engineering, ongoing for the last few months, and sufficiently advanced to be construction ready in certain sectors this fall, carries on following the initial schedule. The suppliers of the main process equipment have been selected and orders for the equipment engineering have been placed.

    The construction of the new segment of highway 389 being built by the Government, at this time only for Mason Graphite, is advancing well; the road and related services should be completed by the end of 2017.

    Northern Graphite Hires Senior Consultant for Value Added Processing

    September 14, 2017 – Northern Graphite Corporation (“Northern” or the “Company”) (NGC:TSX-V, NGPHF:OTCQX) is pleased to announce that it has hired Mr. Ivan Cisneros as a Senior Consultant to assist the Company in developing a strategy for upgrading Bissett Creek mine concentrates into value added products. In particular, Mr. Cisneros will focus on the two fastest growing markets, spherical graphite (“SPG”), which is the anode material used in lithium ion batteries (“LiBs”), and expandable graphite. Mr. Cisneros has a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering and Masters and Ph.D. degrees in PetroChemistry from the University of Poitiers (France) and has many years of experience in the petrochemical and graphite industries. He was General Technical Manager of Nacional de Grafite, the largest graphite producer outside of China, and recently consulted to a large, Australian graphite company with respect to manufacturing LiB anode material.

    Gregory Bowes, Chief Executive Officer, commented that; “Our Feasibility Study economics are based on only selling basic mine concentrates. While we believe the economics of the Bissett Creek project are already very solid using a realistic assessment of current prices and market risk, there are a number of opportunities to capture additional margin by upgrading concentrates into value added products. Mr. Cisneros will advise on process development and assist with the cost/benefit analysis of these opportunities.“

    Expandable Graphite
    Expandable graphite is manufactured by treating large and particularly XL flake graphite concentrates with an intercalation agent that penetrates between the many layers of each individual flake. It can be sold as is or heated which causes the intercalation agent to expand, splitting the flakes apart and increasing the volume by hundreds of times. The expanded graphite is then pressed into sheets or foils. These products have a multitude of uses. They are used as a sealant and for thermal management in consumer electronics as every smart phone, tablet and flat panel TV, as well as solar panels, require a sheet of graphite foil to keep them cool and dust free. They are also used to make gasket products for the automotive, petroleum, chemical and nuclear industries, conductive plates for fuel cells and flow batteries, and fire retardants. The latter market is expected to grow rapidly as the use of brominated flame retardants are phased out or banned. Expandable graphite is principally made from +50 mesh XL flake and Chinese production of this grade is declining. XL flake graphite sells for approximately US$1,700/tonne while expandable graphite can sell for up to US$3,000/tonne.

    Spherical Graphite
    Spherical graphite is manufactured from flake graphite concentrates produced by graphite mines and is the anode material used in LiBs. SPG can be sold as either an uncoated (“uSPG”) or coated (“cSPG”) product. Uncoated SPG is made by micronizing, rounding and purifying flake graphite from approximately 94%C to 99.95%C and current prices are US$2,500 to 3,000 per tonne. Essentially all uSPG is produced in China where hydrofluoric acid is used for purification. This creates numerous environmental and workplace health and safety issues and stricter enforcement of regulations in China is curtailing production of high purity graphite. This represents a weak link in the LiB supply chain. Northern has developed a cost competitive, environmentally sustainable, proprietary purification process that represents an alternative to Chinese methods. It has been extensively tested in the lab and at a bench scale and a pilot plant test is planned.

    Prices for cSPG that has been coated with asphalt or pitch and used in ordinary batteries for small devices is in the order of US$4-6/kg. EV batteries have traditionally used synthetic graphite which has a better cycle life but is lower capacity and very expensive. A couple of South Korean and Japanese companies have developed proprietary technologies to CVD coat and treat natural graphite and blend it with synthetic to take advantage of the strengths of each and to manufacture lower cost, long life, high capacity EV batteries. It is generally believed their EV batteries are 40 to 60% natural graphite and that the ratio will increase over time. This state of the art natural cSPG sells for $7-10/kg.

    Northern is a Canadian company that has a 100% interest in the Bissett Creek graphite deposit located in southern Canada, relatively close to all required infrastructure. Bissett Creek is a well advanced project that has a Full Feasibility Study and its major environmental permit. Subject to the completion of operational and species at risk permitting, which are in the final stages, construction could commence in early 2018 pending financing. The Company believes Bissett Creek has the highest margin, best flake size distribution and lowest marketing risk of any new graphite project, and has the added advantages of low capital costs and realistic production levels relative to the size of the market.

    MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 14, 2017) - Mason Graphite Inc. ("Mason Graphite" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:LLG)(OTCQX:MGPHF) is pleased to announce that it has been informed by the Ministry of Développement durable, Environnement et Lutte contre les changements climatiques (MDDELCC) that the public hearing mandate recently given to the Bureau des audiences publiques en environnement (BAPE) for the Lac Guéret graphite project has been withdrawn.

    Hence, the Ministry will now complete its environmental analysis of the project and will report to the Minister who will forward his recommendation to the Members of Cabinet for a decision from the Government of Quebec to authorize the project and under what conditions.
